Reflection - Day 1

November 11, 2011

I finally came up with a theme for my final individual project. The proposal below was due by the end of the class. It is a very basic outline until the end of this semester.

When I was initially assigned to come up with a theme, I got quite frustrated. A lot of things came to my mind, but nothing actually performable and suitable to do in class. For example, I thought about making a cookbook with my own recipes. However, I thought it was inefficient to work on it in class, because I would have to bring all the cooking equipments and ingredients to class everyday. Although I had the passion to cook, it required quite a lot of dedication and responsibility that I had to give up the idea.
Then, I started to think in a different direction, looking for something that I needed personally in my life.
I thought that so many things just passed by unnoticed, because I am always too busy keeping up with my academics. Actually, I have to admit that most Koreans tend to live a fast, very fast life. Speed matters in everything: Internet, conversation, work, etc. I am not saying that we should not pace ourselves through life, but sometimes we are in such a hurry that we fail to see the valuable things that also matters to one’s life.
As a matter of fact, I decided to create a short campaign film to advocate “slower life.”
